Trimper Family![]() Jeff and Jane Trimper are both elementary school teachers from Stanton, Michigan. They have 3 children, Max, age 10, Maddie, age 7 and Sam, age 6. They are a wonderful and loving family. On October 25, 2002 they were devastated to discover that Max has a rare genetic disorder called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). Since this is a recessive genetic condition the other 2 children were tested and also found to have the disease. MLD is a genetic disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme arylsulfatase A. MLD affects approximately 1 in 100,000 and causes mental and physical deterioration that leads to death. There is no cure for MLD and the only treatment available is a stem cell transplant. This will hopefully slow down the deterioration. As you can imagine, having 3 children with a fatal disease is an overwhelming situation, both financially and emotionally. Please offer them whatever support you can. They would welcome gifts of prayers, money or emotional support. If you wish to make a contribution to this family or to the support of research for a cure for MLD, please click on the charitable contributions button. Please help join in the fight against MLD both for this family and for others. If you have any questions, please visit the FAQ page or the Contact page to send an e-mail. http://www.caringbridge.org/mi/trimpermld Maddie past away in New York City on November 7, 2005. She is happy and pain free. We miss her.
